Santa Cruz de Tenerife will receive 33 cruises with more than 76,000 passengers and 26,000 crew members during the month of March with an expense that could be around 4 million euros.
This was advanced on Friday last week by the first deputy mayor and councilor for Economic Promotion, Matilde Zambudio, who said that «it is a very good opportunity to show the attractions of the capital of Tenerife.»
Regarding spending, he commented that he usually assigns to purchases, with 53 percent of the total, followed by food and drinks with 21 percent, while assessing that the port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife continues to be the fourth port of the country in number of cruise passengers.
«After analyzing the forecast of arrival of cruises for the month of March, we appreciate that there will be days, both during the week and on weekends, in which up to three ships will coincide, and in which for example more than 6,500 people disembark, has explained the councilor, who has also indicated that the cruise represents 20 percent of the total number of tourists visiting Santa Cruz.
Thus, among the ship arrivals, the Aida Nova cruise ship stands out, which will arrive in the capital of Tenerife a total of four times during the month of March, with 4,000 passengers and 1,300 crew members in each of the visits to the city.
Likewise, during the weekends they will also have an influx of cruise passengers thanks to the arrival of Europa 2 and AIDAstella on March 7 with 600 and 2,200 passengers respectively, although the weekend with the greatest coincidence of ships will be the last of the month, with the arrival on Saturday 28 of the Magic Coast and AIDAstella with a total of 4,500 passengers, while on Sunday 29 the arrival of the Aurora cruise ship is expected, with 2,000 people on board.
Zambudio has also pointed out that «this information has already been transmitted to the tourist information points, as well as to the commercial and catering fabric».
